On this April fools day we find ourselves very grateful. One year ago today, Elise had surgery to remove scar tissue in the hopes of being able to get pregnant after being told that we might not be able to have children. Today we hold our beautiful Lilia and wonder at the way God works out everything for good for those who love Him.
This last week we had the pleasure of having Elise’s family visiting from the States. Lilia’s grandma, grandpa, and aunt Jess were able to come for a week to love on the little princess of the Chadwick household. It was a wonderful week of cuddles, bonding and lots of pictures. They came bearing gifts also. Lilia rotated three gender appropriate onesies before they came and now she is well stocked for months to come! We are so appreciative of everyone’s generosity who sent stuff down. It felt like Christmas! They also outfitted Lilia’s room and it actually looks girly…check our blog in the next couple days for pics of her room.
It was a sad goodbye and a poignant reminder of how being a missionary can be difficult. A week hardly seemed like enough and it makes us sad to think that they will miss out on so much in the next couple years. It was nice to have family to ‘ooh and ahh’ over our precious little girl and I won’t lie, it was also nice to have extra arms to cuddle and console. At the end of the day though, we have so much to be thankful for and every day brings new joys.
A habit brought by grandma and grandpa–Sorry Lilia, I can’t seem to find any pacifiers. I think they took them all.
