Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. Psalm 127: 4-5
This week we had the honor of publicly dedicating Lilia to the Lord. Not a day has gone by that we haven’t thanked the Lord for her, prayed for her salvation and asked God to mold us into the parents that we should be to raise her to love and serve Jesus. The church we attend was holding a dedication service this past Sunday and we decided to publicly show our commitment to raising Lilia in the Lord.
A couple of days before the dedication we had the privilege to meet with the pastor, his wife, and the other families who were dedicating their children to the Lord. We had a time of devotions, meditating on what it means to raise a child up to love and serve God. The pastor commented on the verse above, Psalm 127:4-5. He noted that when a hunter would make an arrow, he would first search out the best material from which to make it. Once he had carefully selected the wood, he would work on it until it was perfectly straight. Any carelessness or hurry would certainly show up in his final product. Once the arrow was completely finished, it was ready for its original intent. At this point, it would be foolish and silly to want to keep the arrow in the quiver. It must be allowed to do that which it was made for. And so it is with Lilia and the kids in the children’s home. God has given them to us as gifts and blessings, trusting that we will mold and shape them to do what they were made to do; glorify Him. And so we pray for God to continue to mold us and to give us grace to mold Lilia so that one day, God will be glorified through her life.
