Several members of the group from Bethel’s Alpha Omega ministry put on a drama for our Oasis (and twice for the Frey’s church as well). We really think that it impacted all who saw it.
Yesterday, the team had the opportunity to build an addition to the home of one of the moms from the Moms Helping Moms program. Marieta and her two children were living in a single room house not much people than many people’s entryways. Each day last week the team sent some members to the home to dig and level out the dirt and rock to make room for the new addition: not an easy task when the house is already built into a mountain. We were able to double the size of the house and furnish it with 2 new beds (they previously all slept on one), kitchen table, and chairs.
The team did an amazing job last night, and several times last week, singing, giving their testimonies, and presenting God’s Word. Last night, they did devotions at the Children’s Home and the kids were all in awe. Pastor Jim and several of the boys weave martial arts demonstrations amidst testimonies and a message. In the finale, our director, Mike Fietje, laid on a table and had a watermelon sliced in half on top of his stomach by a blindfolded Pastor Jim. The kids did not move a muscle and watched in awe as their beloved father figure risked his life to prove a Biblical principal to them.
Did I mention the slicing of the melon was done blindfolded?
