Bethel Comes to Peru Part 4 – Evenings

Every weeknight, the team heads over to the Children’s Home for dinner. The team has enjoyed playing soccer and hanging out with the kids before dinner. They have been really impressed with the meals so far and were even able to try guinea pig last night.

After dinner they spend a little more time hanging out with the kids before heading off for devotions.

Bethel Comes to Peru Part 3 – Working with the Freys

Tuesday and Thursday the team spent their mornings working at Fetzer. Among other things, they repainted desks, chairs, and walls, sandpapered and repainted metal bars, and refinished some other desks.

After lunch, half of the kids went to the Frey’s church to help Diane with Kid’s Club. The kids joined people from the church to knock on doors and invite children to the club. Diane led a quick game to start things off and then some of the girls helped Diane lead songs. Then Pastor Jim took over and gave a message intermixed with martial arts. Some of the boys helped with a brick-breaking demonstration and Jim made his final point about true faith in God by slicing a watermelon off of someone’s stomach with a sword. The attendees were amazed throughout at the things going on and the message being given and the room was completely silent when the watermelon was sliced.

Bethel Comes to Peru Part 2 – A Little Fun

The team had a blast this past Saturday getting to know the rest of the missionaries, getting introduced to everything that they will experience, and playing an extended game of soccer with the kids. On Sunday, they attended our church, visited the Indian markets, relaxed on the Limean rock beach, and had a chance to visit a store with overstock and factory rejects of otherwise pricey American clothes.

The middle of the week is usually a good time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some of that fantastic Peruvian ice cream.
