Making Ornaments with the Kids

Elise decided to make Christmas ornaments with all of the kids from the home to make sure that they had something fun to decorate their rooms with. We wanter to spend some special time together with them since we’ll be going home over Christmas. We had the first group over last Sunday.

The Older Girls

Elise baked all of the ornaments ahead of time and made the girls frozen lemonades and brownies while they decorated the ornaments.

Dirty little piggy!

Now that Lilia is belly crawling everywhere, she is quite the dirty, little piggy!  Those of you who have been in Peru know that you could mop twice a day and still have black feet by the end of the day.  Well, Lilia has black hands, feet, belly, knees, face…you name it!

Thanksgiving

Last week was Thanksgiving and we had so much to be thankful for.  Instead of having a traditional Thanksgiving, we opted to have Thanksgiving dinner with all of the kids/staff at the Children’s Home on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. All the missionaries were able to be there too!

A week before Thanksgiving I started talking with the kids about thankfulness and they made turkeys with what they were thankful for and cut out fall leaves as decorations.

We got 66 lbs of turkey and the home provided the mashed potatoes, rice and salad.  It was really yummy!

There ended up being over 80 people there! It was a lot of fun!

The best part was we had a special devotional time afterwards.  Most of the kids shared what they were thankful for and read scripture on thankfulness.  It was a beautiful time of sharing!
