Work and piggie tails

Today I had the privilege in helping out with some of the work that the team is doing. One of the moms in our program is going through a really hard time and we have decided to help her out and encourage her as a sister in Christ. We helped her organize her home a little and also got her a kitchen table and a table to cook on. We also helped provide her with a few grocery essentials to help her back on her feet. It was really a blessing to be able to encourage her in this way.

In other news, we couldn’t wait any longer for Lilia’s hair to grow out. It’s time for piggie tails. OK, I know we are far from the cute little piggies that some little girls her age have, but you have to start somewhere, right?

This pic captures the essence of my little girl: upside down binkie, foot chillin’, coloring a pic for mommy. l.o.v.e.h.e.r.

Food, glorious food! (13 month edition)

Lilia goes in spurts where she eats well and then is a picky eater.  Right now she is eating mostly everything we eat.  For lunch she had a quesadilla with red pepper and onion and for dinner she had aji de gallina (spicy, but not too spicy, chicken dish).  She loves almost anything as long as it is also on mommy and daddy’s plate.

I know that taking a pic of this reinforces the bad action, but I just HAD to get a pic of this. Usually she has a tray on her chair and can’t move her little tootsies.

Lilia is scouting out what we should have for dinner. She’s at a loss for the main course…..

but she’s already chosen her condiments!

In other news, mommy is TIRED! At 3 a.m. we had a little tremor/earthquake. I can’t actually say that the shaking was strong but the noise and rumbling it made was pretty loud. Later we found out that it was actually a 4.3 on the richter scale. It was the first tremor that I actually felt the need to get Lilia out of bed and make it for the door. By the time I had her out and was halfway down the hall, the shaking/noise stopped and Lilia waved to daddy and went back to bed. My legs were JELLO and I had a hard time getting back to sleep with the adrenaline pumping through my body. This is what a tired Lilia and mommy look like:

GREAT NEWS!!!

We had another kidney test for Lilia and it looks like she no longer has reflux in her kidneys! PRAISE GOD! We have been studying the book of John in BSF and know that God still answers prayer and does miracles. We always prayed that he would heal her or give us peace. He has chosen to heal her! We give him the glory. This means that after about a year of medicine, she can go off her low dose antibiotic. Yeah!

After our appointment this morning, we saw a buy one get one free sign at a shoe store. Lilia now has her first walking shoes. Maybe a cute pair of shoes will inspire her. At the moment she sees no need to get around any other way than crawling–which we are just fine with!

Oh, and I HAVE to add that this is my favorite view in the whole wide world.
