A day at the beach…

Oh, to not have to suck in the belly at the beach!

On the way home, Lilia got Lambie and her binkie (this is a special treat for her because they don’t normally leave her crib.)

After a quick nap, it was time to read!

Playing with Lilia

It seems like overnight playing with Lilia has been taken to a whole new level. All of a sudden she seems to have a different understanding of things. She ’shares’ her food and toys and often changes her mind and laughs hysterically as she is taking them away. She now has begun to take things apart and put them back together as well. We gave her a doll for her birthday and she loves to give ‘her baby’ kisses. We think she is beginning to recognize some words. Doggie and baby are sure to cause her to look around. Daddy and Lilia go on walks looking for doggies. Whenever they see one, she squeals for joy and puts out her hand. We stayed up a little later tonight to play and here are a few pics to document our fun. In the last 372 days we have asked ourselves this question hundreds of times; ‘Does it get any better than this?’ I can’t wait to see….

Lilia turns 1!!!

It’s hard to believe, but today our little bundle of joy turned ONE YEAR OLD! We had to pinch ourselves a few times, but yes it’s true.

Here’s how our day began:

Lilia had a really good morning. She had broccoli, green beans and homemade mac and cheese for lunch! Yum, yum!

At 1:00 we had a birthday party for Renzo, Brigitte (2 kids at the home whose b-days are coming up) and Lilia. Renzo and Brigitte got crowns to wear for the day and felt pretty special.

While Lilia checked out the home in her walker….

We had a great time playing games with water balloons! After all, it was 90 degrees today!

Next, was pinata time! Watch out!

and finally….CAKE! Lilia was cautious at first…

but, let’s just say she’s a quick learner….

…and she likes to share!

After a nap, we got to talk on skype with family and then off for a birthday dinner at McDonalds.

A good time was had by all.

We are so incredibly grateful for the beautiful gift from God that we have been given.
….and now, a look back at one year ago today!

Fever Bath

First mommy, then Lilia: at least we are taking our turns here. We’re sickies! Take a look at Lilia’s fever bath yesterday. The girl is a trooper. However, let me assure you that not all moments have been so joyful.

What has Lilia been up to?

Good question. She’s been dying to tell you all about it!

Well, I finally have enough hair to do silly things. Mommy and daddy like to give me baby mohawks, but quite frankly it’s kinda embarrassing.

Daddy still plays the guitar for me quite a bit. I clap along. He must be the best guitar player ever!

Mommy’s working like crazy to get the next sponsorship mailing out. She spends a lot of time having the kids push the pen to the paper. She says sometimes it’s important just to have fun too. She had some of my friends over to make cookies. They didn’t share any with me!

I’m standing up just about anywhere I can now. Watch out mommy and daddy, I’m a little more confident than I should be

Oh yeah, and I found a grasshopper today. I wanted to eat him, but he kept getting away just in the knick of time!

Daddy is so funny! (I have a hippo on my shirt.)
