A day in the life of a Lilia

She has started to wake up cranky yelling, ‘NOOO!’ So we drop some books in her crib and go back to bed. Thirty minutes later she is usually ready to get up.

Lilia has just started to enjoy cuddling!

Living in a 3rd world offers its unique opportunities. This is Lilia’s first encounter with a baby goat.

What can I say? She LOVES her mommy!

Lilia knows where EVERYTHING goes. She will pick up a piece of trash and throw it away, lids go on tupperware, lipstick goes in mommy’s purse, bobby pins go in hair, keys go in the door….I could go on forever….this video shows just how closely she watches us! Scary!

Our First Bumps and Scratches

You know when you get a shiny, new cell phone? It’s perfect until….you drop it for the first time. Well, Lilia is far from perfect, but she has sustained her first bumps and scratches this past week.

This is how it happened: Lilia was so stinkin’ cute playing Miss Martha Stewart in our kitchen. I just had to take a picture.

I put the camera back on the countertop. The strap was hanging down, though, and she gave it a little yank and BAM it landed on her face. Ouch! She had a scratch and a little bruise for a couple days. Here she is immediately after ‘the incident.’

Then on Saturday she was climbing around just being Lilia, slipped, and chipped her tooth. Yes, her cute little ‘conejito’. Oh, mommy was traumatized! A dentist friend told us we needed to make sure it doesn’t change colors. Otherwise, she will have a crooked, little smile until that tooth falls out. She wasn’t at all concerned and was hamming it up ‘on the phone.’

In other news, our daughter lets us know when she’s hungry. I about died when she did this while I was cooking dinner.

Get Rhythm

Between being a little sick, having a severe case of the ‘NOOOs!’, and daddy being gone most of the time, we have been a little blue lately. So what do we do when we have the blues? We “Get Rhythm” per Johnny Cash’s suggestion. Yup, Johnny Cash definitely cured our case of the blues.

I had a pretty good Mother’s Day. Jon let me sleep in until 7:30 (ooooo, you’re jealous, huh?) and then he and Lilia served me breakfast in bed before church.

Jon had to be gone with the team most of the day, so we went out to lunch today (Monday.) I feel so blessed to be Lilia’s mommy and after a rough week like we just had, I am so grateful that God is still working on me. He’s definitely trying to teach me patience, selflessness, and dependence on Him. It really is such a blessing to know that He is able to change me into the mom I need to be. I can’t imagine trying to do it with my own strength.

These are the flowers Jon and Lilia got me. GORGEOUS!
